Keen golfers are beginning to look to Bodrum in Turkey for the opportunity to play golf on the newest course on the Turkish Riviera, a region of Turkey known for it's natural beauty, cosmopolitan population and fabulous resorts. The golfing area has been designated in the Lake Tuzla region, a major stopping-off point for migratory birds such as the pelican and flamingo which arrive in their 1000's between October and April each year. This coincides with the optimum time for enjoying golf in Bodrum so you will be able to enjoy wonderful wildlife in addition to some great golf.

Vita Park Golf Resort, which opened its doors to golfers in July 2009, is the first major golf course to open on the Bodrum peninsula. With at least eight more golf courses planned for the area - one course is already underway on the high terrain overlooking the lake, it is unlikely to be the last. Touching the edges of wildlife paradise Tuzla Lake near Gulluk, Vita Park Golf is designed as a 36-hole resort in both Scottish links and Arizona styles. The first of the courses completed is the Milas-71, a par-71 golf course based on a Scottish Links design with features that hug the contours of the Tuzla Lake. The second course - currently uunder construction - is the Halikarnas-71, a demanding Arizona style golf course which is defined by the rugged contours of the hills it meanders through.

The first course completed for 2009 is the Milas-71, a par-71 18-hole golf course which hugs the contours of Lake Tuzla. The course is 5,850 meters long and offers the charm and challenge of an Old World course with a feel that is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links. The Milas course is born out of a deep love and respect for the game, a shared passion for excellence and a desire to play under the finest possible conditions. Lake Tuzla is home to 1000's of migrating birds, many rare breeds, between October and April making this a haven for nature and golf lovers. The Milas-71 course is a pay&play course, bookable either through Vita Park Golf Resort or through some of the hotels which fringe the shoreline in the region.

COMING SOON: The Halikarnas par-71, 6,480 meters course with its own private driving range, its lush native landscaping and flowing creeks and waterfalls tantalize golfers’ senses, while designed with a dramatic Arizona golf course look because of its topographic features. Classic-style bunkering with bold flashes of native white sand will complement the occasional stacked sod wall edges. The Halikarnas course is expected to be a “players club” with a very challenging layout from the tournament tees- a world- class championship golf course suitable for prestigious national and international events. The finishing 18th—hole, 425 meters, surrounded by a natural amphitheater with its protected pine trees, dramatic waterfalls, and elevated 32 meters green from the back tee crowns the Halikarnas championship golf course. Designed to test even the most accomplished player, the Halikarnas-71 will become one of the most sought after courses in Turkey on its completion in 2009.
